Let's journey back through the pages of time about 100 years ago.
It was 1917, Axel Stomberg and his wife purchased an 80 acre farm. In that day this was the average size of farm that a family needed to made a living and provide for their needs. Axel and his wife went on to raise their 3 children on the farm and throughout the years acquired more farmland to add to their portfolio. The children all grew and went off to college (yes in the 1940's women were going to college).
Upon returning from college, Arla the youngest of the Stomberg kids along with her husband Lloyd Cochran purchased the farm from Axel. Lloyd took over the reigns of farming and they too raised their 3 kids on the family farm.
Lloyd continued to play an active role in the farm until 1999 until his health no longer allowed. From that point on the farming was out sourced as they had encouraged all of their kids to leave the farm life behind and seek steady careers.
After the passing of the 2nd generation, the farm was split among siblings. At that time it became a dream of Roger and his wife Kaye to see the family property became something more!
At various times over the last 2 decades, Roger and Kaye and their (now grown) children have at one point or another all spent time living in the family farmhouse. And over those years various different dreams have been dreamt about what their property could one day become.
In late 2019, their youngest daughter, Leah, was living in Kansas City, working in the event industry. On a trip home for the holidays as her and her husband, David, were out walking the property she began dreaming of what it could be like to convert the family farm into an event space. Very hesitant to share the idea, she didn't say a peep for a few weeks. It wasn't until after they returned home to KC that she decided to share the idea with David. He was immediate interested in exploring the idea further to her surprise!
A few weeks later the two brought up the idea to Roger and Kaye and quite literally the rest is history. :)
In late 2020 the four began to take a closer look at what needed to be done to begin preserving this big piece of family history all the while converting a 100 year old farm into a beautiful and dreamy event space.
To be continued.... (in part 2).
